The Palo Alto Camera Club was founded in 1935; a time when photography was dominated by black and white images printed on silver gelatin coated papers. The main role of color was to tone images in monochrome shades of sepia, selenium, and other tones. For many of us, images shown in black and white still convey a sense of drama and energy. Those early black and white images are not only a reminder of our photographic roots, but also a powerful means of facilitating our artistic expression. In this show we mean to recall the artistic energy of our club’s beginnings.

All Palo Alto Camera Club members are invited to participate in a "black and white" exhibit at the Keeble & Shuchat Gallery in Palo Alto. The show will run from Thursday, December 10, 2015 to Wednesday, January 13, 2016. The club will be hosting an artist's reception on the 19th of December 2015. The show will exhibit 47 black and white images and be curated by Stan Chism, Peter Paluzzi, and Leonard Brzezinski.

The exhibit space has 4 separate sections with a total of 47 16x20 plexiglas frames that are permanently fixed on the walls of the exhibition space. The space consists of the main gallery room and the hall way. The gallery has 22 horizontal frames and 25 vertical frames, which cannot be changed.

To facilitate selection of images and allow for a cohesive show, there are certain criteria that must be met:

• Each member is invited to submit from 1 to 5 images, prioritized by the member, from which the curators can choose.
• The submissions will be digital and will be using our normal upload server.
• All submissions must be uploaded to the server by  FRIDAY NOVEMBER 6, 2015.
• You will be notified of image(s) selected for the show. All matted prints must be in the curators' hands by Dec 1, 2015.
• The images must be monochrome. Color images will not be selected.
• Images can be of any subject but CANNOT contain nudity or violent themes (this is a family friendly establishment).
• The goal is to have as many members represented in the show as possible. Rank your submitted images with priority numbers from 1 to 5 as in our monthly competitions.
• The curators will select images on the basis of the member's priority and the need for images to satisify orientation (horizontal or vertical) and/or subject requirements.
• Images may be printed by the maker or by a printing service, as long as it is of sufficient quality for exhibition. The frames will accept 16 X 20” matted images.
• The club will supply the 16 X 20” mats (4-ply alpha rag pure white) to ensure uniformity in style and color. Members do not have to buy a frame as K&S provides it.
• We will order blank mats for members who want to cut their own to their image measurements; and precut mats with apertures for 11" X 14X" and 10" X 15" prints. Note: the actual apertures are 10.5" X 13.5" and 9.5" X 14.5".
• If you cut your own, the mat border should be at least 2.5 inches on all sides; 3” or more is better. Please include the print image size of your submitted image.
• There is no provision in the gallery for labels next to the images, therefore put your name below the print (either on the border or on the mat on the right side and if desired a title below on the left side.
• A table nearby will contain a notebook with your contact information should you be willing to sell your print.
• Members will be responsible for any sale of images.

In addition to the mats, the club will provide:

• Exhibit announcement cards
• A guest registration book
• An artist profile binder for members to submit artist statements/profiles if desired.
